I am working on my Breastfeeding Class I will be teaching in a few weeks. It made me want to find my favorite Breastfeeding Pictures of Bryson and I. (Carson and Devon’s aren’t digital and would require too much work to share!)

Bryson is always asking me things like…
“Where is my Indiana Jones Lego Gun?”
Me – “I am not in charge of your Legos.”
“Where is my smiley face finger puppet?”
Me – “I am not in charge of your Legos.”
“Where is my Knight Helmet?”
Me – “I am not in charge of your Legos.”
Today after saying that to him he said,
“Your not in charge of anything?”
I had to laugh!

I had heard of the Nestle boycott a few years ago. I learned more about it at the CAPPA Lactation Education Training this weekend. It made me want to learn more and join in the boycott. So you can imagine my joy when in my Google Reader there were some blog posts about a week long boycott coming up!
I talked to my 3 boys about why people have been boycotting Nestle for decades. They were a bit overwhelmed to choose to boycott it totally, but got excited about the Nestle Halloween Boycott. Though they thought a week was doable as well.
I didn’t think we really used any Nestle pr0ducts until I saw this list on Crunchy Domestic Goddess. No more Hot Pockets or Arrowhead water. The water may be the hard one for us. But for a week we can do it for sure!
Please join in on the week long boycott, or at least the Halloween boycott! That is completely doable.

I am spending the weekend at a Lactation Education Training through CAPPA. I am down in Oceanside in a hotel enjoying the quiet and taking the time to update my blog. For 3 days I am learning about breastfeeding. My first day was great. The instructor is very engaging and we are doing a lot of interactive things and I have learned a lot already.
My favorite thing is that we are not nesters. Some mammals leave their babies places, go off and find food and then come back. These are animals that tend to need big muscles, think dogs, deer, cows. So their breastmilk has a LOT of protein and fat to build muscles. Deer will leave their babies 5-15 hours at a time, but one momma deer stays behind to wet nurse any baby deer that gets hungry. Dogs will leave for up to 4 hours.
We are primates and are meant to have our babies on us and feed them frequently. Our main thing we are growing when we are babies is our brains. So our breastmilk is high in lactose, which helps build up brain matter. We don’t have as much fat and protein so our babies need to eat more often. Hence we shouldn’t be nesters, leaving our babies in a “nest” (swing, car seat, crib) we should be carrying our babies more.
Earlier in the week I was talking to Devon and Carson about my upcoming weekend and breastfeeding. They wondered why they use cow milk for formula. Devon wanted to know why they don’t use chimpanzee milk to make baby formula as we are more similar to them than cows. I thought it was a great idea, but then we talked about how hard it would be to milk Chimps and they are too smart for that. Again, brains versus muscle.
I am enjoying the conference. Thanks to Jenn and Jenny for watching my boys today!

Devon got Mr. Shipma, who I was hoping he would get. At first he was mad, because he wasn’t in Kyle’s class. But now he is happy to have him again. I am thrilled, because I know that Mr. Shipma is understanding about Devon’s spelling issues.
Carson got into the GATE program and got Mrs. Stone. Who is supposed to be wonderful. I really am hoping it will be a challenging and fun year for him. I got to meet her on Tuesday and I really like her.
Bryson started preschool at Miss Jessie’s house with Jack. It was where Jack went last year and he keeps calling it Jack’s school. He loves it so far.
I have been getting a lot of things done while everyone is at school. The kitchen is clean every day, at least until the boys get home from school.
Bryson has some great buddies he loves to play with.
Jack, Joey and Logan (alphabetical order)
The best part about school starting, is he gets to have lots of playdates with his friends!
Monday Logan comes over. Tues and Thursday school with Jack and playdates after. Wednesday is Joey and Jack and Friday is Music and Gymnastics with Logan.

I need to make sure I get a picture of Bryson and Jack together the next time they play!

The boys built wood models.
Devon helped Bryson Build His. Bryson painted it very carefully.

The boys made models with marshmallows and sticks.
We ate the destroyed cake.
All in all I would say it was a great 9th Birthday Party!

We celebrated September 3rd at night. Rob had to be available, JICKIEABB (Just in case I was at a birth) Luckily I was home. We had an Engineering Party.
We built a skyscraper cake in the morning.
Sadly, it did not remain standing. It had fallen by 3 PM. So much for preparing ahead. Carson didn’t seem bothered, we just talked about how poor engineering can lead to disasters!
