When my boys grow up they won’t say,

“My mom raised 3 boys and had a perfectly clean house AND cooked homemade meals each night.”

Rather, they will be satisfied with anything they get.    If it is canned Ravioli, fine.  If the house looks like a disaster, fine.

My great DH, has never made such comments to me, nor would he ever.

But I know some men do expect perfection in housekeeping and food.    I don’t know how to attain that, so I just try my best.

I also have the best cleaning lady in the world, so my house is pretty “clean” underneath the mess.  Without Olivia, I hate to think how my house would be.

For our wedding we got 3 sets of glasses. 

1 was pretty hideous, they looked like they were from the 70’s and were just VERY durable, so the last one broke after about 10 years.

1 set was normal, we still have 1 of those.

Then we got a set of 4 indestructable blue plastic glasses.  They are great!  We somehow broke 2 of them, and then the other night I filled up a glass, put it on my nightstand on some papers and I woke up and the papers were all wet.  There was a leak!  So we are down to 1, which is sad, because we loved these cups!

Here is one on our MESSY table, sadly our table often looks like this.  It is our dumping zone.  Our goal is to find a place for everything and keep the table CLEAN!

It is hard to find a time when we are all home and “awake” 

With school we found that 7:30 AM was the best time.  I would wake the boys up, they would dress, stumble to our bedroom and onto our bed.  I would read some verses to them.  We read from the Old Testament this year.

They are soakin’ it all in.  Maybe?

Then it is time to pray.

Hopefully scriptures and prayers while half asleep still benefit our family.  We just want to have FAMILY scripture study and prayer and this is the only time we are all together.

This year the Easter Bunny came to the house and snuck in while Devon was taking a nap and the rest of us were on a walk.

I was so tired this year and we seemed to run out of time,  I was tempted to skip coloring the eggs.  But of course I couldn’t!  It ended up being fun.  The boys being bigger, it is easier and easier to do things that used to be hard!

We went on a great bike ride a few months ago.  It was fun!

Back in January Rob and I had our first FIGHT in front of the kids.  I started to write a blog post about it and then forgot. 

I am now trying to remember what it was about… ahh yes, Rob’s sleeping. 

Rob and I have disagreed in front of the boys before, but we rarely yell at each other ever.  We calmly discuss.  (Mind you I do yell at the boys, but they really test my patience)  Anyway, back to the story.

Here is the basic idea.  I let Rob sleep in on Saturday until 10 or 11.  I finally got him up at one of those times.  He takes a long time to get ready in the morning, but this time it seemed to take even LONGER.  It was an hour before he came downstairs. 

Here is the deal, I usually make the mistake of waking him up when I am about to lose my temper, instead of somehow judging that 40 minutes timing beforehand.  But I was so proud of myself because I wasn’t getting mad .  When he came down I said, “It took you a long time to get downstairs.”  I really said it in a very neutral voice.  I truly wasn’t mad. 

Then he got all mad and said that he was upstairs putting the clean clothes away so I would be happy and why did I have to get all mad at him?  Well, that pissed me off and the fighting ensued.  Down to me yelling, “Screw you!”

Devon wasn’t phased.  Carson seemed ok.  Bryson came up to me and said, “I love Daddy.”  He sounded so worried.  I reassured him I loved Daddy too. 

We both calmed down and apologized to each other within 30 minutes and then talked to the boys about the incident. 

Hey, we are only human.  But hopefully we will  be able to stay calmer in the future.

Why is it that when we have spring break and the boys CAN sleep in, they were up every day by 7:30?  Then on Sunday I had to drag them out of bed at 8 and then every day this week I had to drag them out of bed at 7:30? 

Why?

Life is busy, busy, busy.  Luckily we are all healthy and just cruisin’ along, with piano, karate, school, homeschool, tennis, preschool, park days. 

Rob has been EXTRA busy, working like a crazy man.  Non-stop, probably 70 hours a week.  I am just happy he has a job.  

No time for more updates.  But soon!

than to take all 3 boys to the grocery store.   I haven’t done that in a long time.

Thing 1 is old enough to stay home alone and sometimes I even leave Thing 2 home with him. 

I went to pick up Thing 1 from his horseback riding lessons, which he LOVES.  Then we all went out to lunch at Baja Fresh (I had a coupon), we ran to Bed Bath and Beyond, Staples and the Grocery Store.  All with great incentive of a trip to Golden Spoon (I had a coupon for there too, 2 free smalls!)  

They were good until we got to the Grocery Store.  There is something crazy in Thing 1’s genes that he goes bezerk in grocery stores.  He thinks it is because there are carts.  I don’t know what to think, except I will never do that again. 

We survived the trip and I never got to the dreaded 3, so we ran to Blockbuster and rented 2001 Space Oddesy (Devon finished reading the book this week) and got our Golden Spoon.

We watched 2001 today and I vaguely remembered seeing it before.  That is a very interesting/weird movie that needed some SERIOUS editing.  They could have easily taken an hour out of it and I did not understand the end.  But it is amazing how many references there are to that movie in other movies.  Even WallE has a lot of pieces from that movie in it. 

From now on I will embrace the freedom that comes with having a child old enough to stay home alone, so I can go to the grocery store without him.
